Karl Webster’s paintings and sculptures explore a contemporary inquiry of the natural landscape.
Drawing from his immersion of the English Landscape, particularly the exploration of the Peak District, his work alludes to location, the passage of time, and the healing powers of nature.
By challenging the traditional conventions of landscape art through the means of experimental techniques, he translates an intimate experience of these places, geology, natural phenomena, and philosophical realms to the viewer.
This work was produced out of an initial reaction to the location of ‘Mow Cop’, revealing the ‘less physical terrain’ through the archaeology of painting.
Karl graduated with a BA in Fine Art at Staffordshire University in 2024.
