By April Star Davis

April Star Davis is inspired by travel and thrift hunting in flea markets and outdoor markets.
April said: “This piece is about breathing, inspired by my experience with covid and lower left lung loss of function. All my pieces take years and are never finished until they leave the house.
“I’m really excited about being involved in the community arts as honestly, I’ve never experienced such a creative community, and the support the UK gives the arts is unmatched to the USA where I’m from.”
Art critic Peter Frank wrote of her work: “If any one collage of Davis’ slouches towards meaning, specific and/or universal, a Davis book collects such collages into fecund sequences to be (broadly) interpreted and at the same time into objects to be handled. These are illuminated manuscripts of the XXI Century, illegible but intelligible, mundane yet magical, the perfect anti-Kindle, anti-Twitter artefacts.”
April recently exhibited in the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition, receiving a prize which has led to a residency opportunity.
