On November 14th, 2024, renowned light sculptor Raphael Daden will unveil a striking new public art installation titled “Where Are the Birds? Where Are the Trees?” at 7:00pm in Longton Exchange’s Cultural Quarter. This community-driven project, spearheaded by the Longton Creative Volunteers and Urban Wilderness, reflects the town’s commitment to sustainability.

Daden was chosen through a collaborative process with local volunteers, who praised his engaging use of light and large-scale design. The installation involved the community in its creation, with colorful leaves made during a series of workshops. Volunteers like Yvonne, who found the project an enjoyable and meaningful way to engage with others, expressed pride in their contributions.

The unveiling is part of Longton’s broader Cultural Action Zone initiative, supported by Stoke Creates. It aims to enhance environmental awareness through creative expression. The event is free and open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to witness art’s power to bring the community together.
